Deacon

Amen.

Blessed be His Only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Deacon

Amen.

Priest

Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

Deacon

One is the Holy Father. One is the Holy Son. One is the Holy Spirit. Amen. Blessed be the Lord God, forever. Amen. Praise the Lord, all you nations; Praise Him, all you peoples; For His mercy is confirmed upon us, And the truth of the Lord endures forever. Amen. Alleluia.

Commentary

The Priest stands west of the altar, holding the Lamb in his left hand and the cross in his right. He makes the sign of the cross three times over the Lamb and the wine — once for each Person of the Holy Trinity.

Mixing the Wine

Congregation

Glory to the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit; Both now and always, And unto the ages of ages. Amen. Alleluia.

Commentary

The Priest pours the wine into the chalice and mixes it with water (from a third to a tenth its volume). The wine is mixed with water as the mixture of the blood and water that poured from Jesus' side when He was pierced on the cross.
