Hymn of the Censer

The Hymn of the Censer is chanted for Virgin Mary and she is the symbolic censer of whom we speak.

The censer of the Priest, also symbolises the Virgin. In her, coal (human nature) was lit with fire (divine nature) and became one.

Hymn of the Censer (Taishori)

Chanted on Saturdays and Sundays (except during the Great Fast), all non-fasting days, and all feasts of the Lord.

Congregation

This censer of pure gold,
Bearing the aroma,
Is in the hands of Aaron the priest,
Offering up incense upon the altar.

Hymn of the Censer (Tishori)

Chanted on the Feasts of the Holy Cross and on all fasting days except weekdays of the Great Fast and during the Fast of Nineveh.

Congregation

The golden censer is the Virgin;
Her aroma is our Saviour.
She gave birth to Him; He saved us,
And forgave our sins.

Hymn of the Censer (Entho te Tishori)

Chanted on weekdays of the Great Fast and during the Fast of Nineveh

Congregation

You are the censer
Of pure gold,
Bearing the blessed Ember,
Glowing with fire.
