The Priest together with another Priest or Deacon lift the veil that was used to cover the oblations in the Prayer of Covering. This corresponds to the resurrection of Christ in the events of His holy life.

The Priest lifts it and shakes it, indicating the earthquake that accompanied the announcement of the resurrection of the Saviour. After that, the Holy Sacrifice is revealed, as if saying, “We have seen Him and known Him in the resurrection. The holy resurrection has declared to us that He is the Son of God in truth.”.

For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,

The Deacon proclaims to "offer in order", meaning to alert the minds of the people to offer their gifts, hearts, and possessions in the example that was given by our Lord Jesus Christ. He loved those in the world dearly, loved them to the end, and gave Himself for all of us with joy, love, and delight. He is ready to give to the end. We, too, must offer ourselves in the same way and example.

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
