The Liturgy of the Faithful
Commemoration of the Saints
We remember the assembly of saints present with us in the spirit, believing that during the liturgy, heaven opens on earth, and the heavenly beings share with earthly beings in prayer and praise to God.
We commemorate our fathers and brothers who preceded us and fell asleep in Christ, so that the Lord may repose them in the paradise of joy.
The Commemoration of the Saints is a remembrance of those who struggled for the Faith and were victorious, and reflects the unity of those on earth and those who have departed, as one body of Christ.
Priest· St Basil
As this, O Lord, is the command of Your Only-begotten Son, that we share in the commemoration of Your saints, graciously, O Lord, remember all the saints who have
pleased You since the beginning: our holy fathers the patriarchs, the prophets, the apostles, the preachers, the evangelists, the martyrs, the confessors and all the spirits of the righteous perfected in the Faith.

Our fathers and brethren who have slept, whose souls You have taken, grant repose, remembering also all the saints who have pleased You since the beginning: our holy fathers the patriarchs, the prophets, the apostles, the preachers, the evangelists, the martyrs, the confessors, and all the spirits of the righteous perfected in the Faith.
Most of all, the pure, full-of-glory, ever-virgin, holy Theotokos, Saint Mary.
Saint John the forerunner, baptist and martyr; Saint Stephen the first deacon and first martyr; Saint Mark, the pure apostle, evangelist and martyr;
The patriarch, Saint Severus; Saint Cyril; Saint Basil and Saint Gregory;

Our father Abba Pachom of the Koinonia; and our father Abba Shenoute the archimandrite; our father Abba Nopher the anchorite, and our father Abba Samuel the confessor.
And the whole choir of Your saints.
Not that we, O Master, are worthy to intercede for the blessedness of those who are there, but that they, standing before the tribunal of Your Only-begotten Son, may in recompense intercede for our poverty and weakness.
Be the forgiver of our iniquities for the sake of their holy prayers, and for the sake of Your blessed name which is called upon us.
The names of the departed Coptic Orthodox Popes of Alexandria are recited inaudibly.
Deacon
Let the readers recite the names of our holy fathers, the patriarchs who have slept. May the Lord repose their souls and forgive our sins.
